Many families can have postpartum doula care covered by workplace benefits! Carrot is one of the bigger benefits companies that we are seeing! This is such an incredible offering that workplaces are giving their families. Getting the opportunity to have a birth or postpartum doula can be so life changing for families. As a matter of fact, many consider it a game changer because it makes the transition into parenthood a lot more manageable and less stressful.

We have become experts in helping families navigate Carrot and other workplace benefits.

Contact Your HR Department

Ask your human resource department what benefits they offer if any. If you are working with a larger company, you may have between $1,000 and $60,000 in lifetime fertility and doula benefits. This is a benefit that families can use for a birth doula and/or postpartum doula. You should be able to use this for the first 6 weeks postpartum.

Some Questions to Ask and Things to Keep in Mind

1. These benefits are newer and introduced in 2023. Carrot is making changes to their policies and fine tuning.

2. A certified doula is required and proof of their certification will be requested.

3. There is a 2 doula limit for postpartum care.

4. There is typically a daily limit of 16 hours within a 24 hour period.

5. Your doula will need to fill out an attestation form.

6. Your invoice will require added details. These details include the tasks performed by the doula, the doula’s name, and their information.

7. Carrot may ask to see a contract which includes what is included in the care. This may differ from the usual postpartum care contract the company typically has.

Knowing all of this in advance can make the process a bit easier and less stressful for your family.

Again, start with asking your workplace and gathering information from them!
