Frequently Asked Questions:
Why choose our live-in newborn care program?
Many families require 24/7 newborn care during the first 4 to 6 months as their baby develops critical sleep habits and adjusts to healthy sleep routines. Some families may need round-the-clock support for the first week or two before transitioning to a lighter level of care. We understand that every family is unique, which is why we tailor our packages to meet each family’s specific needs and circumstances.
Will my live-in doula travel with me?
Yes! If your family has trips planned (large or small), rest assured knowing that your doula will accompany your family so you can have the same level of support and care away from home.
How does payment work?
We make it simple. Secure your doula with a 50% deposit based on the package you choose, and pay the remaining balance once your little one arrives and care begins.
How will I be matched with my live-in doula?
We will find you your perfect match. We have a team of over 200 postpartum doulas and newborn care specialists and we work diligently to match your family with the perfect fit.
What if my doula gets sick or has an emergency?
Your live-in doula is very committed to your family and it would be rare for her to be unavailable. In the rare circumstances that she is unavailable, you will never go without care! We understand that you rely heavily on your doula, and if your doula is facing a family emergency or is under the weather, we will always be available to find a substitute.

“I am so incredibly grateful for the care our family received from our doulas! We contacted the agency when our twin boys were just 7 weeks old because we couldn’t do it on our own! They worked quickly to find us a doula who was a GREAT fit! I especially appreciate their flexible scheduling and the ability to work directly with the doula to schedule shifts (we started with one overnight and one daytime shift each week, then switched to 2 daytime shifts once we were a bit more caught up on sleep). Billing was easy, response times to questions was always very prompt, and everyone showed such compassion for our family. Would highly recommend!!!”

“Plainly stated: We could NOT HAVE SURVIVED HAVING TWINS without the postpartum care and support we received from Chicago Family Doulas. Letting us sleep through the night (especially as I was recovering from a CSEC) was the most valuable gift we could have gotten. We loved the 2 doulas we were assigned, and still talk to them frequently!! And truly, the ability to get a good night’s sleep, and knowing our babies were in the best hands, gave us the ability to then ENJOY the days with them, rather than resenting or being overly tired. This is a MUST INVEST category for us. If we have more kids I cannot imagine not working with Anna and the team again.”

“Incredibly lucky to have found CFD, they have made a world of difference in the first months of welcoming our third baby. Don’t be like me and wait until baby number three to realize how important sleep is! You are in good hands here! Thanks again Anna!”

“We had an excellent experience with Chicago Family Doulas! They have supported our family for the past 9 months since our son was born, in which we had three incredible Doulas based on our schedule and needs. We are moving out of the country, otherwise we would keep using their services and we highly recommend them to anyone needing assistance with their baby.”

“First of all, if you’re looking for a “night nurse” what you might actually want is a doula. You just don’t know it yet. It was news to me that doulas would also do overnights. At first I thought night nurses and doulas are the same thing, but they are not. Anna and her team has saved my families butts twice now during an unexpected hospitalization. We don’t have family nearby and we needed help, fast. Twice now they have pulled through with great quality people and little notice.”

“After speaking with Annamarie Rodney over the phone I was confident that she was someone I could trust to pick the best postpartum doulas to help make the postpartum transition easier for my family and I. Katharine, Ashley, Andrea, Shelley and Alex did an exceptional job taking care of my 3 kids 5 and under, newborn and I that I couldn’t of asked for a better experience. My husband and I are very grateful for all the support they have given our family. They went above and beyond our expectations and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for postpartum care. They love what they do and are dedicated to providing the best care for families. Thank you Chicago Family Doulas”

“I highly recommend Chicago Family Doulas! They helped us with daytime support in the early weeks/months after our daughter was born and as first time parents we were beyond grateful for their help and support. They taught us so much and were a calm and helpful presence to have in our home. Thank you thank you Anna and to the entire team we had the pleasure of working with!”

“All of the doulas from Chicago Family doulas who cared for me and my infant daughter were warm, caring, professional, and experienced. The support they offered was invaluable (especially since this was my first child!). I was able to get sleep knowing that my newborn was in excellent hands- such a blessing!”

“We had a tremendous experience working with this amazing staff. Our son was not sleeping well and we needed extra support for both days & nights. Anna was incredibly supportive of our needs and was able to find highly qualified doulas on a short notice. There are no words to express our gratitude to Anna, Ashley & Melissa for their amazing support. Chicago Family Doulas genuinely cares about doing the right thing beyond just a business transaction and that’s what makes this place special. One that I’m sure we’ll come back to if we’re ever in need of their service in the future. Thank you!”

“Chicago Family Doulas was a life saver for us. After some tough delivery complications, I knew I would need extra help. We called them the day before I was discharged, and they were able to have someone at our house the next day as soon as we arrived home from the hospital. They worked to ensure consistency — we had the same person most of the time and a second person subbed in a few times when she couldn’t make it. They accommodated the hours we needed (6pm – 6am). Our first couple weeks at home were so much less stressful thanks to them- I was able to recover, our newborn got excellent care and attention, and we had the bandwidth to tend to our toddler as well. About a month after we first used Chicago Family Doulas, we had another emergency situation and they were able to send the same person that night to help out.”

“We welcomed twins into our lives recently and the postpartum care through Chicago Family Doulas was essential for supporting us in the transition from expectant parents into a family of four. Our doula was professional, knowledgeable and reliable, providing competent and compassionate care. We highly recommend Chicago Family Doulas, especially to families who are expecting twins.”

“Emily was our postpartum doula/night nurse over the course of several nights when we had our second baby and that whole ‘sleep when the baby sleeps’ option was no longer. We started after I was not nursing, so it was amazing to go to bed at 8, and wake up at 6 with clean laundry, cooked food in the fridge, dishes done and a baby who was well cared for all night there to greet me. I could go to bed feeling confident that my little guy was in great care. Great investment for my mental health and sanity.”
