Meet Erica K.

Postpartum Doula Chicago

Erica is a well loved labor and postpartum doula on our team who trained as a maternal support practitioner with Bebo Mia, Inc. in 2020. Her training included birth, postpartum and fertility and she also trained as a Lactation/Breastfeeding Educator which allows her to educate and be an advocate to families to assist in their Lactation/Breastfeeding journey.

Erica has been supporting families for most of her life.  When she was younger she was a nanny and has volunteered to help and teach children of all ages in her church the last 20 years.

As a postpartum doula she is intuative, helpful, knowledgeable calm, patient and understands exactly when to jump in and help to make it easier for families. She knows how critical that this time is for families and she does all she can to help families rest, recover and enjoy this precious time.

As a doula, she is passionate about making sure all families have access to quality care.  She knows that she can play a part in closing the gap and reducing the maternal death rate by making sure that families go into and their birth and postpartum feeling empowered.

Erica has a background in healthcare and has trained as nurse. She is a graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Illinois University since 2003.

Erica is honored to support families. She has always had a heart to help others. She had two dreams of becoming a teacher and a nurse. After her nursing training, she wanted to focus on working on labor and delivery and working with new families and babies.

Erica has three children of her own, ages 5, 9, and 12 and knows first-hand the recovery after C-Sections. She knows the importance of having a support system.  She loves that she brings this knowledge and empathy into the work she does as a doula.

When not caring for families, Erica loves reading, spending time with her husband and children, her extended family and friends. She also loves helping others, she volunteers as a teacher of the children/youth and an administrator at her church.
