Meet Deirdre

Deirdre is a well-loved postpartum doula trained and certified with CAPPA. She has over 18 years of nannying experience, and has enjoyed being a part of busy families all of her life.

Deirdre’s love for supporting families and caring for babies was present throughout her life. When you look at pictures from Deirdre’s childhood, it’s Deirdre and a baby. She is the second oldest of 4 children, and first started to enjoy and take part in family care when her youngest brother was born. Deirdre especially loves being able to foster friendships between siblings. From the time she was 8 years old, her home was the site of full time childcare for children ages 0-5, so Deirdre is used to homes full of children! She started babysitting as a team with her older sister at age 11, was a date night babysitter through high school, and worked at the on-campus childcare center in college. She has 13 years of experience of summer nannying for various families with 1-2 children aged 2 months-12 years for 12-50 hours a week, and has babysat at weddings, funerals, birthday parties, and overnights – sometimes up to 6 children at a time (with a helper, of course).

Deirdre provides kind, supportive, and helpful care to the families she serves, and she truly values the relationships that she creates with families!

When she is not working as a doula, Deirdre works as a professor teaching public speaking, interpersonal communication, and various other communication courses. Deirdre enjoys putting her professional research skills to use in finding families resources to help them feel supported and confident in all of their decisions!
