Meet Iritisen

Chicago Doula

Iritisen is a well-loved and experienced postpartum and birth doula, birth photographer and lactation educator on our team. She is both DONA and CAPPA trained. She also specializes in 24/7 live-in doula care.

She is highly nurturing and always taking care of people. She cares for the entire family and families describe her as an experienced and knowledgeable doula. She connects deeply with each family and knows exactly how to support and serve them and does so with understanding, a full and happy heart and soulfully.  She is wonderful with supporting families find schedules that work the best for them and their little ones.

She became a doula because she felt it was a true calling and has proven to be so. She is able to provide families loving, professional and incredible support and in turn they have such positive experiences and she becomes part of their family.

As a birth doula Iritisen believes that birth is a normal, natural, and healthy process and that mothers and babies have the inherent wisdom necessary for birth. She knows that pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period are milestone events in the continuum of life and that these events affect mothers, fathers, babies, and families in unique ways. These events have profound and long-lasting effects on society. She believes every family should have the opportunity to have a healthy and joyous birth experience regardless of their age or circumstances, and that every mother should give birth as she wishes in an environment in which she feels nurtured and secure. She should give birth in an environment where her emotional well-being, privacy, and personal preferences are respected. Iritisen works hard to help families achieve this.

Prior to her work as a doula she was a nanny for 10 years also in Chicago. She loves children and equally loved the families she cared for. She is a Chicago South Side native native born and raised in Beverly. She is the middle child, which has been an asset, as she can accomplish things quickly and well.

In her free time Iritisen enjoys painting, baking new desserts, tending to her 30 house plants and propagating them to share with family and friends. She also loves traveling, meeting people from all cultures as she is a collector of oral stories and Black History and raw authentic moments. She loves experiencing new things and hearing fresh perspectives.
