Meet Kay
Kay is a CAPPA trained postpartum doula on our team. She loves caring for the entire family, including infant care (feeding, changing, bathing, neighborhood walks), light housework and laundry, bottle sanitizing, meal planning/ light meal prep, dog walking/dog care, and support for the mother and other children. She is experienced with preemies, singletons, busier families, as well as diversely-abled children (deaf, autistic, and developmentally delayed). Nurturing kindness is her intention and superpower. Families describe her as bringing a mature competence and calm presence to their households. She is an incredible organizer with strong household management skills, and brings quiet and efficient orderliness.
As a postpartum doula, Kay provides support to mothers and babies in the crucial early months. She’s always loved babies and deeply empathizes with the challenges of new motherhood. She became a doula to nurture, love and support newborns and their parents/families as they adapt to their new worlds. In this critical, fragile moment of human life and family formation – an abundance of care, support and acceptance are needed more than ever.
Prior to doula work, much of Kay’s career was spent in the healthcare industry, working with providers and other industry professionals and leaders. She’s knowledgeable and experienced in massage, physical therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, Ayurveda, naturopathy, and functional medicine.
Kay is the matriarch of a large family and the mother of two daughters, a grandmother, an aunt to eleven nieces and nephews and a great-aunt to nine. As the oldest of a family of six, she had a lot of childcare responsibilities. She grew up with a deaf sister, worked with deaf preschoolers and has basic American Sign Language skills. Kay forged a multiethnic, biracial family that includes a daughter with autism along with other mental health disorders.
When Kay isn’t supporting families, she enjoys being outdoors and active, going to the theater and attending an array of music events. She’s a gardener and food-and-nutrition fiend who is committed to growing and sourcing.
