Meet Kirsten
Kirsten is a well loved labor and postpartum doula and breastfeeding educator. She completed her education with DONA International. After supporting families as a doula she became a midwife assistant in September of 2018 and is currently enrolled in the Direct Entry Midwifery program at Southwest Technical College and is looking forward to becoming a Certified Professional Midwife.
Kirsten believes that going through labor, delivery, and the postpartum is a very intimate experience and is honored to have been given the opportunity to work in a field where she can witness it regularly. Her passion is to serve and support parents, she supports families in finding their own path, making their own birth choices, parenting choices, and lifestyle. She deeply believes that this journey should be a positive one for families in both birth and postpartum.
As a postpartum doula she loves jumping in and supporting every family as they need. She understands the support and guidance that a first time family needs, as well as, what it takes to run a busier household when adding another to the family. Kirsten jumps supports in every way she can.
Kirsten is a mother of three young children, all born within a 4 and a half year span. When she has a moment to herself, she loves listening to podcasts, reading, and drinking coffee. Her three personal birth experiences were all very different. She has given birth in a hospital with medication and an obstetrician, medication-free in a hospital with a nurse-midwife, and at home with a certified professional midwife. She has personal experience with breastfeeding that totals over 5 years. Each postpartum experience was unique in its own way. Exclusive pumping after a NICU stay with her first, two under two, and then single motherhood after her third made for a lot of ups and downs and figuring out what works best for her family. She looks back on those experiences and draws from them while working with her labor and postpartum clients.
Families describe Kirsten as kind, caring, willing, calm and knowledgeable.
