Kyla is a DONA Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula from Chicago.  She has a multifaceted journey in women’s health. As a doula she has been supporting families since 2021. Kyla has supported families at many of the area hospitals and has supported families who had both medicated and unmedicated births.  As a birth doula, families describe her as knowledgeable and a wonderful listener.  She helps to ensure that families have a voice and have a positive birth experience. As a postpartum doula she has supported many families who had premature babies and has supported some families for 3 months.  As a postpartum doula Kyla is knowledgeable, proactive and helpful and she truly loves building relationships with each client.

Her overarching mission is to enhance Infant and Maternal Health in the Chicagoland area, particularly within the African American community. She takes pride in advocating for reproductive equality and actively works towards bridging gaps in healthcare access. This has always been a passion for her and In 2017, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences, followed by a master’s in public health specializing in community/women’s health education in 2020. Currently, Kyla is actively pursuing her nursing degree, with plans to further her education and achieve a DNP as a certified Nurse Midwife upon its completion next year.

Wearing numerous hats, Kyla serves as the Program Coordinator for Midwest Healthy Start, dedicated to providing maternal and infant resources to underserved families in Roseland and West Pullman. Not one to slow down, she also holds the position of director of outreach at As She Blossoms, a non-profit organization facilitating access to feminine hygiene products for incarcerated women. Additionally, Kyla passionately volunteers as a peer mentor and Doula for incarcerated women across Illinois.

Kyla fills her cup by caring for others and she has become a well loved doula in the Chicagoland area.
