Meet Layla

Layla

Layla is a CAPPA trained postpartum doula on our team. Families describe her as very patient, loving, and nurturing. She pays attention to all the needs of the family she cares for. She is available during the days to help make this new transition easier for you and your family. If it’s making home made soups or a home cooked meal, helping organize your home so you can breathe, take the family dog for a walk, she is here for you.

Prior to becoming a doula, Layla worked in the service industry for over 25 years, owning her own restaurant in the city and opening the space to teach art to the kids in the community. She was a nanny for many years and is also a single mom to a beautiful 12 yr old daughter. She fosters dogs and has 3 of her own, and is a huge advocate for all animals who need loving homes.

Layla comes from a huge family: she is the oldest of 25 grandkids, and helped raise and guide them to become awesome young adults. She is an auntie to 7 nephews and is very close with her family. Originally from Hawaii, and part Native Hawaiian, she grew up here in the suburbs of Chicago.

As a postpartum doula, she loves supporting families with singletons, and is also comfortable with busy households with multiple children. She thrives in helping new parents get off to a good start and she knows how stressful this new journey can be.

In her free time Layla enjoys being an artist, and refurbishing pieces of furniture, cooking for her friends and family, and enjoying every moment of being a mama to her daughter and her furbabies.
