Meet Michelle S.

Evanston doula

Michelle (she/her) is a well loved full spectrum doula on our team who has completed the Maternal Support Practitioner Program with Bebo Mia. She loves supporting families and helping them to navigate this emotional and very important time in their lives.  She values the relationships and the connections that sshe makes with all of her clients.

Michelle values inclusion in reproductive health & approaches everything she does with an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed & intersectional lens.  As a doula she knows that she is making a positive impact on families and within the community.

Prior to becoming a doula, Michelle had a career in EMS that lasted over 10 years. She looks back fondly at working as a paramedic, but she absolutely loves being a doula. She loves getting the opportunity to support families as they welcome a baby into their lives and helping them to settle in during their postpartum period.

Michelle’s unique experience as a mother, medic and caregiver makes her a great birth worker. She is supportive of medicated or unmedicated births, as well as hospital or home births. Her unique experience makes her a natural to prepare you for any birth. She believes it is a privilege to walk alongside families & is thankful for the opportunity to serve her community in this special way.

Michelle grew up on the Northside and currently resides in Evanston with her small family, two “ferocious”pitbulls, and a giant fancy goldfish aquarium. She loves animals and has been a vegetarian for most of her life. When Michelle is not working, she is tending to her small indoor jungle and learning about plant medicine as a way to reconnect with her Indigenous Mexican N’dee/N’nee/Ndé roots.
