Meet Rachel C.

Best Birth classes in Chicago

Rachel is a DONA International labor and postpartum Doula. She has supported many postpartum families in Chicago with various needs including day support, overnight support, twins, military families (father deployed), first time parents and sibling support. Supporting parents and the development of children, by giving parents the tools they need to provide a healthy start to their familial relationships, is what Rachel loves to do.

In order to better serve these families, Rachel continued her education.  She has her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from DePaul University and received her Master’s Degree in Child Development with a specialization in Infancy from the Erikson Institute. While in school she interned through a program that served teen moms with infants and toddlers, providing them with developmental information, home visits and community resources. Rachel helped co-facilitate a newborn group alongside a lactation support group. It quickly became a passion to be able to give new parents the support they needed to allow their families to thrive. During this time, Rachel also received her certification as an Infant Massage Educator, to facilitate parent bonding.

Rachel always had a love for children and supporting families. When Rachel moved to Chicago in 2012, she began volunteering at children’s hospitals, playing with children in their hospital rooms, the playroom, and holding infants in the NICU. Deciding that she wanted to focus on the early years, she became an infant teacher at an early learning center. Rachel worked in a classroom with infants from 6 weeks to 15 months old.

Families describe Rachel as proactive, kind, intuitive, a wealth of information and an incredible support.
