Meet Teresa
Teresa is a CAPPA trained postpartum doula and placenta encapsulation specialist with over 20 years of childcare experience as a babysitter, nanny, and night nanny for a large age range of children to include newborns and infants. She majored in Early Childhood Education at University and has also studied infant and child development. She has worked with infants and toddlers both with and without special needs. During college, she taught at birth-three programs, early intervention programs, and volunteered at Little Company of Mary Hospital with a parent education program called Baby Talk. She believes parent education and support is essential in caring for a new baby.
Teresa has a lot of experience with a wide range of families to include families with twins, premature infants, infants with reflux and other feeding difficulties, infants in physical and occupational therapies, and also has experience with non-traditional families and unique family set ups and situations. Teresa also has experience in working with differently abled children, such as those with Autism, Asperger’s, Down Syndrome, FAS and NAS, deaf and hard of hearing, and much more. She is certified in Basic Life Support (CPR and AED) for infants, children, and adults.
Teresa has also worked with mothers experiencing PMAD, or Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorders, mothers experiencing health conditions such as postpartum preeclampsia, and mothers who have experienced a traumatic birth. Making sure that all moms feel supported physically, mentally, and emotionally is so important. Teresa makes sure your infant has the best care, that your goals are supported and met, that your family feels supported, and the transition is smooth for all members of the family.
She uses evidence based practices, stays up-to-date on new studies being done, and makes sure that her methods measure up to current best practices. Her methods are educational and encourage milestones while being nurturing and warm. She has always been a natural at caring for babies and anticipating their needs. Babies, children, and animals have always been drawn to her.
Families describe Teresa as warm, supportive, nurturing, helpful, full of great information, a good listener, and a natural baby whisperer.
When she’s not at work supporting families, you can find Teresa with her 2 year old daughter, who lights up her life.

“At first I was very hesitant about letting a stranger into my home and touching my twin babies, and then I met Teresa. From the moment I met her I liked and trusted her. She went on to prove my instincts about her were correct. She was not only caring, friendly, easy to talk to, knowledgeable, helpful, and willing to go above and beyond to help me and my family, she was also very professional. She truly cared about my family, and did everything in her power to make sure my babies were safe and well cared for. She also helped me as I was going through PPD. She gave me confidence, and helped me to understand what a great mother I am. If you are looking for a wonderful, and experienced doula who will truly care about your family, there is no one else I would recommend than Teresa richter. She truly was amazing and is very much missed by our family!”
